The Microsoft Tablet: Is it Coming, Will it be Crap, and does Anyone Care?
The Microsoft Tablet, or, the Zune HD, HD. It may well be launching today (Monday), but whether the world is ready, or willing to buy into another iteration of the tablet is uncertain. Will it be an “iPad Killer”? No, of course it won’t. Will that stop everyone from asking? Alas, no.
What might it include? Well, rumours are that it’ll be based on a version of Windows 8, their smartphone platform, and may incorporate some of the new Xbox video streaming features, and may be a co-branded barnes and Noble Nook device.
It seems foolish not to tap into Microsoft’s only true hardware success; the Xbox console, but amongst all the hype and competitiveness for dazzling apps and hardware specs, some Microsoft fanboys are indicating that all it would need to succeed would be a dedicated and thoughtful Microsoft Office integration, presumably for people who work for a living rather than play Angry Birds.
